Online dating scams are all too common. There may be tens of thousands of victims. You may think it cant happen to you, but that is what the people that have been scammed thought too!


Not everyone is looking for love!

These scammers are good at what they do. After all they spend hours scamming several people at the same time.


Scammers create fake online profiles using photos of other people — even stolen pictures of real military personnel. They profess their love quickly. They tug at your heartstrings with stories about how they need money — for emergencies,

hospital bills, or travel.

They WANT  your money.

Nigerian scammers set up dating profiles to meet potential victims. Although they will use Facebook and send friend requests to get you talk to them.


Most victims are  between the ages of 40 and 80 years old, commonly widows or widowers.


They promise Love an sometimes marriage and say they are coming to be with you. 


As the relationship progresses, they will start asking you for money for various reasons.


As the months go by the amount of money increases. 


They continue to scam you until they feel the money has run out!


Leaving their victims heartbroken and in debt!

Warning Signs

Check Facebook profiles before you accept any friend requests.

Scam profiles usually were just created and pretty empty. 


Listen to your intuition! If it sounds too good to be true, it is!


A Few Warning Signs: 

They will Never talk to you on phone


Will Only Use:

Personal email, Hangouts, Whatsapp or Messenger to communicate


They ask for gift cards such as Amazon or itunes


They are out of the country 

They need money in order to come to you


Their online profile disappears a few days after they meet you.

Don't be too trusting. They can and will say anything to get you to believe their story.
